The Palestinian Authority declared a state of emergency last Thursday and put Bethlehem in Lockdown as cases of Coronvirus were detected. This means the Church of the Nativity and other places of worship in Bethlehem are shut, all tourism and religious sites across the West Bank are closed and all tourists banned from the West Bank for an unspecified amount of time.

Archbishop Peter Smith, Archbishop Emeritus of Southwark, died peacefully at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea, just before midnight on Friday, 6th March. He was 76.

After consultation with HCPT’s Risk Management Committee and Medical and Nursing Committee, the decision has been taken that those considered most at risk from the COVID 19 epidemic should not participate on HCPT pilgrimages during the 2020 Summer Season.
Those considered most at risk, are felt to be those who fall into the following categories:

Again there are plans to modify the NHS  healthcare provisions of both St Helier and Epsom Hospitals. In summary the following services are to be removed from one or both hospitals:-

Accident & Emergency, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Emergency Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Cancer Care and Coronary Care.
