After His resurrection Jesus spent 40 days appearing to His disciples in different places, eating with them, performing miracles; and opening their minds to what had been said about the Messiah in the Scriptures through Law of Moses, The Prophets and The Psalms: that The Messiah had to suffer and on the third day rise from the dead (Luke 24: 44-46). These appearances were necessary because for the disciples to be “witnesses” they had to be convinced of the fact that the Resurrection was real – not a figment of any human imagination, not any hallucination, not a result of any distorted vision; that the Passion, Death and Resurrection were in fulfillment of the law and the prophets, that all were part of the divine plan for the Holy One. Each of us, called to be witnesses in our world today, must first be convinced that “Jesus is Risen!” Do you believe?
